Computational Neuroscience base rates

Based on attendance at the annual COSYNE (computational systems neuroscience) meeting in 2020, the base rate of women in the field is 26%*.

Another measure is the proportion of women PIs on CRCNS (collaborative research in computational neuroscience) grants, which is 24-26% as of January 2021 (26% based on NIH RePORTER (search for grants whose title starts with “CRCNS”) and 24% based on the NSF listing of previously awarded grants).

* Note: this base rate may misrepresent the field of computational neuroscience as a whole as COSYNE does not include computational cognitive neuroscience.
