The base rate was calculated to be 34% (39 out of 100 unique PIs), based on a NIH RePORTER search in 2021 for grants using the keyword “developmental neuroscience” and counting the total number of women names among the first 100 unique PIs in the search results using a combination of Gender-API and a manual check.
